Project Progress

In an effort to write more concretely, I've turned to the real-life issues concerning which I feel passionately. (Making my mind map was helpful in this prioritization.) I feel that one of the most effective methods for social/ideological change is visibility. I want to tell stories of everyday-style narratives of people with alternative lifestyles and identities.

Maybe I'm from Oberlin or something, but it seems to me that transgender issues should be at the forefront of the human rights campaign. I don't mean to sound like we've won on the gay & lesbian front, for the same reason we could argue for women's rights or racial equality currently; statistically there is still discrimination against women and racial minorities. But we should fight the hardest for those who have the least legal rights and social acceptance. And in doing so I hope we're fighting for all human rights (ideally, that is, because of course in real life there are racist gay people and bigoted religious minorities.)
