Interesting Artists



This artist plays with dominant gender codes in her female portraits in order to make a feminist statement. Because she designed her own clothes, which appear as traditional male attire, she isn't really cross-dressing. Her dull, cool palette also evokes a constructed sense of the masculine. I think they are beautifully rendered.


This artist appropriates Andy Warhol's prints with a gender spin. Much of her art deals with identity as ethnically (specifically Jewish) and gender-specifically defined.
